The first day of school came and went and I think I was more excited and anxious than the girls! We had a babysitter come watch the boys like last year and had a good morning. The traffic situation at their school needs some adjusting so we parked and walked in.
Emma met her teacher for the first time and was thrilled to talk to her and see so many friends from last year. She gave us a quick hug and that was that.
Maddie knew her teacher who got down and hugged her and she barely got a good-bye out to Jared and I.
As for me, 36 week pregnant ladies should not have to leave pieces of their heart at school. That was hard and some tears were shed.
Jared had the day off to keep working on some projects that needed to be done, so we ran errands with the boys all day.
Maddie was excited to make new friends(she was most concerned about that), to make a puppet, go on a scavenger hunt and that her teacher read to them. She got her color poster homework done already and can't wait to go back with ALL her class on Wednesday. She told me one of the other kids almost forgot her puppet but Maddie got it for her and helped her put it in her backpack. That is so Maddie, always looking for ways to help others.
Emma was mostly relieved to meet such a sweet teacher and have so many of her same classmates from last year. She was thrilled to eat lunch at school for the first time (even though she left her water in her backpack). She thought 3 recesses was the coolest thing ever. She missed the signal for the end of her lunch recess and was scared to realize her class was gone, but her teacher from last year was so sweet and saw her and walked her in to class. She was also so excited to start up homework again, which is due every day this year, not just Fridays. I asked her why she liked to play with her friend Lizzie so much, and she said, "Because she reminds me of Maddie." (Lizzie is an independent little redhead.)
I am so excited to see how much they learn and grow this year!
