P90X... let the pain begin!

Jared and I are competing to lose some weight, Biggest Loser style(as in percentage of weight loss)! So far our little competition with each other has been the best motivation either of us has ever had to work out and eat better. We both HATE to lose.

We have had the P90X DVDs for over a year. We have both used them off and on. I personally have quite the love/hate relationship with them. Today was Day 1 of P90X for me. It hurt, it burned and I'm exhausted... and that is what I love about it.

Anyway, we have weekly weigh-ins every Wednesday morning. We both lost a few pounds last week, and not that I'm keeping track or anything, but I did lose a tenth of a percentage point more than Jared. :)

Now that I have told all of you I'm doing this, I'm hoping it will help keep me motivated! I will keep you updated as we go along!

Really?!

Don't worry, I'm not going to spoil this if you haven't watched it yet.
I don't know if anyone follows "Lost" but after watching the finale, I am a little frustrated at the lack of closure. We don't follow very many shows like this, but we were sure we were going to get answers tonight. Nope. I was so irritated.

But I realized that I really didn't watch "Lost" for the fluff and happy endings that I look for in most of the shows/movies I usually watch. If I want something deeper I usually find a good book. We liked "Lost" because we never knew what was coming, and that is what kept us coming back to it week after week. In the finale, there wasn't necessarily a "happy" ending, there weren't answers to all the small details of the last six years, the symbolism wasn't really explained and I'm still a little confused.... and that is ok. In fact, I even liked it. See? Even this post shows you how well-written the show is- I can't even figure out what I think about it! :)

Super Baby

Madelyn is super strong.
She has been able to lift her head up off my shoulder since day 1.
At two weeks she rolled over from her stomach to her back.
And she has done it more since then.

Maybe it's because she is a wiggler and never stops moving.
Maybe it's because her 15 month old sister necessitates her strength.
But we love our tough girl.

Help, Twin Falls Friends!

My cousin is moving here in 7 days, and they are looking for a house to rent. He will be working in Burley, too, so a house in Twin or Burley would work. Anyone know of anything?

3 Years

Jared, after 3 years of marriage, I was thinking of some of the things we have experienced...

3 years at your job
3 years in Twin
3 places we have lived
3 months looking for a house
3 bedrooms in our house
3 races you have run
3 jobs(me)
3 pregnancies
3 week old baby(today!)
3 vehicles
3 hours looking for a new truck
3 computers
3 golf bags
3 callings(you)
3 years of laughter and memories

It has been a fun 3 years... I love you more than ever!

New to Nursery?

Emma was really struggling today and so for the last half hour or so of church I went into the nursery with her. They were sitting in a big circle doing singing time when we walked in. Emma was so cute and when we walked in she went and sat down next to the other kids, obviously very proud of herself for being so "big." All the kids got a little restless by the end of their singing time, so most of them were standing up, and Emma stood up too. Many of them were swaying a little bit on their feet as they sang along. While I was taking in the sweetness of watching 17 tiny little kids swaying and singing, I glanced over in time to see my personality-filled 15 month old bust out her booty dance and shimmy to I Am a Child of God. Hmmm... apparently she really pays attention when we watch Dancing With the Stars...

Shopping Expedition

Ok, so I really only went to Wal-Mart for a few things. And for probably only 45 minutes. It may sound really silly but I was really nervous doing that by myself with 2 kids. I guess I was feeling a little outnumbered. However, I was determined.

I pulled into the parking lot looking for a space and found the first(non-handicap) spot by the doors. Score! And someone had even left their cart right next to it! Emma was pretty excited about our little trip, Maddie was snoozing away. I squared my shoulders, took a deep breath, and proceeded to pretend like this was something I did every day.

Within five minutes of being in the store, Maddie started fussing. I couldn't get her to stop. Then I realized she was gassy. Feeling very proud of myself, I pulled out the Little Tummies drops, and settled her right down.

Then I decided to get a table. Not one of my best ideas. One of those 6 foot, fold in half tables. I managed to get it under the cart and just had to drive very slowly and carefully to keep it from slipping off.

We got to the grocery line, Emma getting grumpy and bored of sitting, Maddie having relieved her gassiness in her diaper and wanting to be changed, me probably looking a little frazzled. I got everything unloaded onto the conveyor belt and realized the girl in front of me had 2 separate WIC checks and then another separate purchase. And she hadn't gotten the right stuff for the check so we got to wait while she went and traded it out. Emma started gnawing on the bar of the cart to soothe her sore teeth. Apparently, she popped more of one of her molars through, as blood started gushing out of her mouth and she got her little hands covered in it. Wet wipes to the rescue! We finally got settled down(more or less), cleaned up and through the line. As I walked out the doors into the parking lot I breathed a big sigh of relief- just as the slippery table slid off the cart onto the parking lot with cars waiting for us to cross....

Motherhood is nothing if not an adventure.

Surviving!! (And feeling grateful...)

(a quote I really like today.)

It has been an interesting 9 days, adjusting to two kids. Not so much difficult, as just interesting. We have been blessed with two little angels, seriously. Emma got the nasty cold that I had, and has two molars that are halfway in and really sore. Found out today that Madelyn has an eye infection. Oh yeah, and Madelyn gets bumped and poked a LOT by her very loving and well-meaning sister. They both have every right to be a little grumpy. But do you know how many times I have been up in the night with Emma in the last 9 days? 0! And Madelyn? A maximum of two times a night, never for longer than 45 minutes from the time I wake up, change her, feed her and put her back down! She has already done a couple of 6-hour stints at night just because she loves me. :) Wednesday morning both girls slept in until 10 AM!

I have recovered this time far faster and better than I remember with Emma. We have been spoiled rotten by our ward, our families and friends. We had 10 meals brought to us in 6 days! Jared's family took Emma for 4 days, my mom came and stayed with us for a few days. Siblings have driven over 100 miles just to come meet and hold Madelyn for a an hour. I have had multiple offers for free baby-sitting. Last night I cashed in my massage that Jared got me for Christmas. Thanks, Jared! (And thanks to my friend Candice who did the massage.) Speaking of Jared, YOU ARE AMAZING! You handle this house full of emotional women exceptionally!;) Yesterday and today I had both kids on my own for the first time all day. Except for when I took Madelyn to her check-up and my friend watched Emma for me. Nursing has gone much better this time, too. At this point in Emma's life, I was pretty sure I was the worst mom in the world and that I was starving her to death. Maddie weighed in at 7 lbs. 8 oz. at her check-up today. She is in the 95th percentile for height at 21 inches and 50th for weight.

I guess I just wanted to take a minute to say thanks to everyone for being so great! And to take a minute to make note that I'm surviving! (Just in case I have a hard day coming up- this will remind me how good I have it!)

Wide Eyed

She has already changed SO much!
