I found this in my blog archives that I never posted.....

8 lbs. 1 oz. 21 in.
My little sister, Kelsi, is leaving on her mission on Wednesday, so my goal was to get this little guy here before she left so they could meet. I usually go early, and my body was progressing normally, so I decided to help things along.
I researched ways to naturally induce labor, and tried pretty much all of them. I could tell it was helping, but I was being impatient. So I bought castor oil. First off, GROSS! It definitely does what it is designed to do! But all of the stomach irritation led to contractions, and I finally started to have some consistent, contractions, and I knew I was going into labor.
I tested positive for Strep B again, so my doctor had given me a loooong talking too about coming in WAY earlier than I did for the girls(I had Emma 4 hours after getting to the hospital and Maddie after 2). It was nice to only be in labor at the hospital for a couple of hours, but the downside was that we had to stay for 48 hours because I hadn't had the antibiotic for Strep B in time. My Dr. was also concerned about how close my pregnancies have been and was worried about complications because of that. He ordered blood in case I started to bleed out and needed a transfusion. He tried to downplay it, but I could tell it was a real concern.
Jared got home from work and I told him I wanted to take the girls to the park so I could keep the contractions going and take my mind off of it. The park we WALKED to was a little less than a mile away. Walking there definitely helped, and the contractions became closer and closer together. By the time we got there, I was having some contraction 90 seconds apart. I sat down on the park bench, and they would slow way down, like 3-4 minutes apart. But every time I stood up, they sped up again. I was trying to listen to my Dr., so we decided to call Jared's mom so she could come and get the girls and we could go check in at the hospital. She didn't answer, but we got ahold of his sister Mandee, and we started walking back to our house. Mandee met us at our house, took the girls, and we headed to the hospital. We also called Connie and her cousin Randee works as a labor and delivery nurse, so they knew we were coming.
We arrived at the hospital around 7 PM. Since I have my babies so fast, the staff in labor and delivery were nervous and very prepared for us to get there. Luckily I went in early enough that I was only at a 4 this time. They wanted to slow down labor so I could get all the antibiotics I needed, so I basically just laid down and got comfortable. We had the anethesiologist come at around 10 PM when I was about a 6 so he wouldn't have to come from Blackfoot(?) in the middle of the night. I was the only one in labor in the whole hospital that night, so I was very well taken care of. It also helped immensely that Randee made sure I had the best nurse there.
I didn't progress much after my epidural, and they decided that not only was he a BIG baby, but that he was posterior, so things weren't progressing as quickly as they should. My Dr. still didn't want to break my water because they wanted to get 8 hours worth of the antibiotic drip into me. My nurse told me to try to get some sleep since my epidural was working and I was really comfortable. So Jared and I both slept. Well, I dozed on and off for a couple of hours, Jared was totally out. They kept coming in and checking vitals, etc., but my nurse was awesome and she just tried to let me rest as much as possible.
Around 3:30, she told me she better check me and see how I was progressing. She kind of gasped and said that he must have flipped and was ready to come. She called my Dr., and he had gone home to get something to eat. So we TRIED to wait for him, and he walked in, I pushed twice, and our little guy was born at 4 AM exactly. 8 lbs. 1 oz., 21 inches long. SO cute! And they cleaned him off and gave him to me, I tried to nurse him, and he latched on and never stopped eating. :)
The rest of my stay at the hospital was very easy, too, with my friend Randee calling ahead and talking to the nursing staff for me. Seriously, I've never had such a great experience at a hospital. We were dishcarged after just a day since he had gotten his antibiotics and was doing so well. My recovery has been the easiest by far!
Love our little man!

Big Day
Briggs has been scooting and rolling to get where he wants to go, but today he officially started crawling. He now has 6 teeth, 4 on top and 2 on bottom.
Last night both girls fell asleep by 6 PM, and since Jared was on High Adventure, Briggs and I got some fun time together. He is so sweet and so funny. He loves to tease me, and giggled the whole time we were playing. When he got really tired, he would put his forehead against mine and shake his head back and forth. After a while I put him in front of the mirror and he did the same thing to his little buddy in the mirror. He forehead was red by the time he went to bed from rubbing it so much.
It was just a perfect, quiet night with my little buddy, and I'm grateful that I was able to spend that time with him.

EX-HAUS-TED
Poor thing... Jared was gone for high adventure and our schedules were all a little off. She fell asleep on the kitchen chair while eating dinner at about 5:45 PM.

Brown Bear
My best friend from college is the best gift giver. Somehow she always nails gifts on the head. Especially for my kids. They use her gifts more than most gifts I pick out for them! She bought them the book "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" and they are OBSESSED. Both girls can recite it almost word for word and read it several times a day. I love it!

Land of the Free
Because of the brave.
Today I am reflecting on the many blessings I have living in this country. Wow, it is amazing! I truly have the opportunity to make all of my own choices: where to live, how to live, how many children to have, how/where I worship, how I dress, voice my opinions, vote in elections, my transportation, my career, what I eat... I could truly go on and on.
I am SO SO grateful for all those who have sacrificed to allow me those rights!
"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed, if so celestial an article as Freedom should not be highly rated." ~ Thomas Paine
I don't EVER want to take my freedom for granted, but I know I sometimes do. I'm grateful we have a day set aside to celebrate it. I want my children to understand how blessed they are to live in the country.
I think that one of the best ways I can show respect to those who have sacrificed to allow us our freedom, is to use it to improve myself, my family, my neighborhood...
Some of the things I have been thinking of to do this:
1) VOTE!! We get to vote and have a say!! And don't just go check a box, do a little bit of research! One vote can truly make a difference!
2) Serve in the community. With the fire in Pocatello, there are so many obvious ways to help out right now, but there are ALWAYS opportunities! There are always local soldiers and their families that we can help out, too.
3) Be educated. We don't all need to be biologists or historians, but we all need to take advantage of our unlimited opportunities to educate ourselves.
4) Inspire others. Your friends, your children. Help them see how much it means to you to have FREEDOM!
5) Have a dream! The song from Tangled is running through my head right now! Haha! But seriously! Make a goal and go for it! We have all the opportunity in the world! My friend just did a post about her dreams and asked what others' dreams are, so I thought I would share some of mine!
-Be debt free! Can't wait to be debt free other than our mortgage! But I REALLY can't wait to never even have a mortgage payment!
-Do a triathlon. I will be taking swimming lessons to get better at swimming for this, but I'm looking forward to that, too!
-Teach pro bono piano lessons. I have always wanted to teach lessons, I just don't want to charge for them.
-Improve my home/yard(paying cash!) and improve it's value.
-Earn a trip to Hawaii for Jared and I with my Mary Kay business. I'm halfway there!!
-I love photography, and would love to take a photography class and really learn how to use a camera.
-I always wanted to learn how to use photoshop.
-Can't wait to serve a mission someday.
-I would really like to teach financial classes someday. Just basic principles that have changed our life.
Thank you, Charlotte, for inspiring me to write them down! It makes me so excited to SEE them like this.

Love love love
These people. They make my world go 'round. Each one of them makes me better in different ways. I have learned so many things from each of them... these are just the biggest things right now...
From Briggs, I learn how to enjoy the little things. Seriously, the sparkly piece of glitter on the floor or tiniest blade of grass, he notices and appreciates the small, often over-looked blessings in my life.
From Emma, I have learned to let my heart/feelings guide me more. I spend way too much time trying to analyze every decision I make, but she is in tune with her emotions and the emotions around her to make things better. She has figured out how to manipulate those emotions(through song, laughter or hugs) and can brighten anyone's day.
From Maddie, I have learned to appreciate and love nature and animals more. The world around us is AMAZING. Heavenly Father has blessed us with so much, and I'm grateful for my sassy little redhead who always has time to stop and smell the flowers and pet dogs, horses, cats and much more.
From Jared, I have learned the value of hard work. I grew up working pretty hard on the farm, but didn't necessarily appreciate what I was doing at the time. Jared has taught me how fulfilling doing a project from start to finish is. The work he has put into our home, yard, his job, his career, and himself are impressive and are yielding big results for him. I want to learn to love hard work like he does.
