Why God Made Moms!!

These are 2nd grade students' answers that were in the Arco paper last week. They are pretty funny!

Why did God make Mothers?
-She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
-Mostly to clean the house.
-To help us get out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make Mothers?
-He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
-Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
-God made my Mom just like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are Mothers made of?
-God makes mothers out of clouds and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
-They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string I think.

Why did God give you your Mother and not some other Mom?
-We're related.
-God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your Mom?
-My mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
-I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
-They say she used to be nice.

What did Mom need to know about Dad before she married him?
-His last name.
-She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer? Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and Yes to chores?

Why did your Mom marry your Dad?
-My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my mom eats alot.
-She got to old to do anything else with him.
-My grandma says that my mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?
-My mom doesn't want to be the boss, but she has to because Dad's such a goofball.
-Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
-I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than Dad.

What's the difference between Moms and Dads?
-Moms work at work and work at home and Dads just go to work at work.
-Dads are taller and stronger, but Mom's have all the real power;cause that's who you ask if you want to sleep over at a friends.
-Moms have magic, they can make you feel better without medicine.

What does your Mom do in her spare time?
-Mothers don't do spare time.
-To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your Mom happy?
-On the inside, she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
-Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your Mom, what would it be?
-She has this weird thing about keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
-I'd make my Mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister that did it and not me.
-I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

All dressed up with no place to go!

This morning I had some errands to run and then we were going to go to a playgroup at 11, but it started raining so we didn't go to the playgroup. Instead we came home and took a few pictures for the blog!

Oh, and this is Emma's new best friend... she will talk and smile at herself in the mirror all day! It is fun to watch!

A few random things...

These were pictures I took after Emma's first bath- she was not sure what to think...

Hanging out with dad during his lunch break...

Tummy time...

This was the little christening bonnet that came with her blessing dress we thought was funny to put on her...

Her favorite position and place to sleep. Yes, that is our bed, and we are trying to convince her that her bed is more comfortable. :)

She LOVES cuddling up with her dad to sleep...

Emma after church last Sunday wearing one of the dresses that my Aunt Marjean made for me and I wore when I was a baby.

Smiles!

Today is going to be a great day! It is Friday and Emma has been smiling at me all morning. Her smiles makes me melt and put me in such a good mood and now I'm motivated to get lots done! I attempted to catch a couple on camera. Most of these are either blurry because she was moving around or you just see a half a smile as she is starting to smile, but they are still fun!

5 Weeks and April Fools

So a certain aunt and uncle who live in Missouri have been requesting some new pictures. Again, these are taken with our webcam (we are having some serious issues with our digital camera), but we are having some real pictures taken this weekend, so there are more to come! When I started out taking these she was wide awake and content, then I was mean and took her pacifier away-since it doesn't match her outfit, of course ;) and then I gave it back and she fell asleep. The only pacifier she will take is the Soothies kind, and it is a little awkward and heavy so she learned how to hold it in her mouth with her hand at almost one week. It is pretty funny.

Now that I stay at home with Emma, I get to have time for some of the things I always wanted to do. For instance, I have the time to enjoy silly little holidays, like April Fool's Day. Yesterday morning when I was up feeding Emma I changed our clock an hour ahead. At 6:30 Jared woke up, checked the clock and got up to get ready for work, thinking it was 7:30. I stopped him before he actually got ready, but I knew if I didn't get him first thing in the morning before he remembered it was April Fool's, I would never get him. I was happy at that, but after he went to work I had another idea...
I went to the dollar store and bought a pregnancy test and then I went and visited one of my pregnant friends who was nice enough to take the test. She put it back in the box and back in the dollar store bag. I got home a few minutes after Jared got home from work and had the bag with the pregnancy test in it. I sheepishly told him that I just "wanted to make sure" and went in the bathroom to "take the test". I let it sit for a few minutes in the bathroom, went and got it and had him take a look at it. I am married to a very good man, because he was a little shocked, but took it in stride. We joked a little about being able to have two new tax deductions for 2009, and he asked Emma if she wanted a little sister or little brother. I finally told him after about an hour and we were both happy that it was a joke. Anyway, I got him and it was hilarious! I'm a little nervous for next year's April Fool's Day, though, because I bet he cooks up something even better!
